An incident has come to light at Victoria Hospital in Bahawalpur where a newborn baby girl’s arm bone was fractured during childbirth. The family has accused doctors and hospital staff of negligence.
The affected woman stated that untrained staff and doctors applied unnecessary force during delivery, which resulted in injury to the newborn’s arm.
Following the incident, the hospital administration formed a three member inquiry committee to investigate the matter. According to the Medical Superintendent of Victoria Hospital, Dr. Abdul Rahman, the committee includes Dr. Shakeela Yasmin, Dr. Farrukh Zaidi, and Dr. Aneela Ali. The committee will review all aspects of the incident and submit a report. The newborn baby girl was immediately shifted to the Pediatric ICU, where treatment was initiated.
Hospital sources stated that an attempt was initially made to conduct the delivery at the woman’s home. However, she was transferred to Victoria Hospital after complications arose.
