Indus Water Flow Crosses 600,000 Cusecs at Guddu Barrage
The water flow in the Indus River has surged past 600,000 cusecs at Guddu Barrage, according to the barrage control room.
Authorities reported an inflow of 612,269 cusecs and an outflow of 582,942 cusecs at Guddu. At Sukkur Barrage, the inflow was recorded at 488,890 cusecs while the outflow stood at 438,399 cusecs. Meanwhile, Kotri Barrage witnessed an inflow of 274,129 cusecs and an outflow of 261,399 cusecs.
Floodwaters have inundated vast areas in Kandhkot’s katcha belt, submerging thousands of acres of crops, including cotton and rice. In Naushahro Feroze district, a breach in the Zamindari Bund near Darbelo allowed river water to enter Hashim Sial and Tunia villages, cutting them off from nearby towns. Several roads and farmlands remain under water.
Officials confirmed this to be the heaviest water flow of the season passing through Sukkur Barrage. At Punjnad Headworks, water levels have decreased compared to yesterday — dropping from 575,195 cusecs to 459,963 cusecs.
Flood-affected communities are facing severe challenges, with damaged crops, blocked roads, and rising displacement. Authorities have directed local administrations and disaster management teams to remain on high alert and prepare for possible evacuations if water levels continue to rise downstream.
