The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has issued a warning after a fraudulent website impersonating the examination board allegedly targeted students by offering to clear failed examination papers for Rs. 10,000 per subject.
The scam came to light when a fake results website appeared in Google search results and directed students to a WhatsApp helpline. Individuals operating the helpline reportedly claimed to be BIEK employees and offered to change examination results or help students pass failed subjects in exchange for money.
According to reports, students were asked to transfer payments into private bank accounts, with scammers promising that their results would be updated within 24 hours. The fake website was later taken offline under the pretext of maintenance after allegedly collecting millions of rupees from students.
BIEK Chairman Faqir Muhammad Lakho has denied any connection between the board and the fraudulent website. He urged students and parents to use only the board’s official website for examination results, announcements and other information.
Lakho also stated that the board had repeatedly informed the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) about the fake website and had submitted a formal letter to the relevant authorities, requesting action against those involved.
The board has advised students not to trust anyone promising to change marks, clear failed papers or improve examination results in return for money. Students and parents have also been urged to avoid unverified websites and WhatsApp contacts and verify all examination-related information through official channels.
The warning highlights the need for students to remain cautious online, particularly when dealing with examination results and other academic services.
