SYDNEY: Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer has successfully undergone surgery in Sydney after sustaining an injury during the third One-Day International (ODI) against Australia, according to Indian media reports.

Sources said Iyer’s condition is stable, and doctors have advised him to take at least a week of rest. The middle-order batter was injured while attempting a catch during the match, suffering a rib injury that caused internal bleeding.

Following the incident, he was immediately shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU) for treatment.

Reports suggest that Iyer’s health has improved significantly, though he continues to remain under medical observation as a precaution.

Meanwhile, Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav shared an update on Iyer’s recovery, assuring fans that there was no cause for concern.

“It was an unfortunate incident, but the doctors are taking excellent care of him,” Suryakumar told reporters ahead of the T20I series against Australia. “He is recovering well and will stay under supervision for a few more days.”
