KARACHI — The Department of College Education, Sindh, has officially announced revised operating timings for all government colleges across the province, effective August 1. According to the newly issued notification, morning shift classes will run from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM (Monday through Thursday and Saturday), wrapping up early at 11:30 AM on Fridays. Meanwhile, evening shift classes will operate from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM on regular days, and from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM on Fridays. College principals and administrative bodies have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with the new schedule.
In a parallel and decisive move to safeguard student health, the department has also slapped an immediate, blanket ban on the use and possession of tobacco, vapes, nicotine pouches, paan, and gutka within all college premises in Karachi. Principals are required to enforce the smoke-free and drug-free campus rules without delay. Furthermore, authorities have formally requested local deputy commissioners to clamp down on vendors selling tobacco and narcotic products in the immediate vicinities surrounding educational institutions.
