Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif distributed the laptops and Honhaar Scholarship cheques during a ceremony held at the University of Rasul in Mandi Bahauddin on October 27, 2026.

The University of Gujrat had the largest share, with 2,406 students receiving laptops. Another 521 students from the University of Rasul benefited from the initiative. The distribution also included 173 students from the University of Chenab, 87 from the University of Science and Technology, 80 from Air University’s Kharian campus and 39 from Nawaz Sharif Medical College.

In addition, 2,021 students enrolled in 21 colleges and 204 female students from four nursing colleges received laptops under the scheme.

Scholarship support was also provided through the Honhaar Scholarship Programme. A total of 1,055 students from the University of Gujrat and 610 students from 18 colleges received scholarship assistance. Other awards were distributed among eligible students from universities, medical colleges and other institutions in the two districts.

The laptop scheme is intended to help students access online learning resources, conduct research, complete assignments and develop digital skills. The provincial government is conducting distribution ceremonies across Punjab’s divisions during October and November.

Students awaiting their turn are advised to follow announcements from their universities and colleges and check official scheme updates for information about selection and distribution.
