UPPER KOHISTAN: Health authorities have successfully conducted vaccination camps in remote and hard-to-reach areas of Upper Kohistan, expanding access to essential healthcare services for children and pregnant women. The initiative focused on immunizing children against preventable diseases, particularly those who had missed routine vaccinations.
During the camps, medical teams vaccinated 127 children, including 27 identified as “zero-dose” children who had never received routine immunization before. Healthcare workers also provided outpatient medical services, free medicines, and health screenings for common illnesses.
Awareness sessions were organized for parents and caregivers to highlight the importance of timely vaccination and to address misconceptions about immunization. Community mobilization efforts encouraged families from scattered mountain settlements to bring their children for vaccination.
Local residents welcomed the initiative, describing it as an important step toward improving healthcare access and protecting children from vaccine-preventable diseases in the district’s remote communities.
