Sindh has taken another significant step toward modernizing its prison system with the launch of a video-link court hearing facility for undertrial prisoners at Central Prison Karachi and District Prison Malir. The initiative aims to improve judicial efficiency by enabling remote court appearances while reducing security risks and administrative delays.
The facility was inaugurated by Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court, Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput, in the presence of IG Sindh Prisons & Correction Service Fida Hussain Mastoi (QPM, PSP), judicial officers, and senior prison officials. During the ceremony, officials presented a live demonstration of the video-link system, demonstrating how undertrial prisoners can appear before courts remotely without being transported from prison.
The new facility is expected to speed up court proceedings, reduce security concerns during prisoner transportation, and save government resources by minimizing the need for physical transfers and extensive security arrangements.
During the visit, the Chief Justice also reviewed ongoing prison reform, rehabilitation, and inmate welfare initiatives. He appreciated the Sindh Prisons & Correction Service for its efforts to modernize prison administration through technology and strengthen access to justice.
The launch of the video-link hearing facility marks another milestone in Sindh’s digital transformation of correctional services, reflecting the province’s commitment to efficient prison management, judicial accessibility, and the continued welfare of inmates.
